There are 12 Jyotirlinga in Indian sub continent, these are said to be holiest places for followers of Lord Shiva. Jyotirlinga are spiritual representation of Shiva. All these Shivalinga are self originated or “Swayambhu”. Out of 12 Jyotirlinga five are placed Maharashtra State. They are

1. Trimbakeshwar of Nasik
2. Bhimashankar near Pune
3. Grishneshwar near Aurangabad
4. Parali Vaijanath
5. Aundha Naganath

Trimbakeshwar of Nasik

Sri Trimbakeshwar is 30 kilometers away from Nasik city. The Shivalinga placed here has 3 faces which depict Brhama, Vishniu and Maheshwara. The town is on the banks of River Godavari. Trimbakeshwar is the place where “Kumbha Mela” will be held in every 12 year. “Kumbha Mela” is a massive pilgrimage fair witnessed by millions of Devotees, Saints and Tourists from all over the World.



Bhimashankar near Pune

Sri Bhimashankar temple is lies on Western Ghats near Pune. The distance from Bhimashankar to Pune is around 125 kilometers. The history of the temple dates back to 13th century. The temple is built by following “Nagara” architectural style. Bhimashankar is named after of River Bhima, because it is source of the same River. This place is surrounded by dense forests, so many nature lovers and trekkers attracted towards Bhimashankar.

Grishneshwar

Sri Grishneshwar is located near historic city Aurangabad. It is the smallest Jyotirlinga of all. The temple depicted the south Indian style of architecture. There are beautiful sculpture work around the temple, which portray stories from Indian Mythology. Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore rebuilt the temple in 18th century.

Parali Vaijanath

Sri Vaijnath temple is an ancient temple placed in Parli of Beed district. It is around 340 kilometers from Pune and 470 kilometers from Mumbai. According to Hindu Mythology this temple is associated with Ravana. During 18th Century Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore renovated the temple.

Aundha Naganath

Sri Aundha Nagnath is a temple located at Hingoli Maharashtra . The distance from Pune to Aundha Naganth is around 435 Kilometers. This temple has a legend that it is built by Pandavas during their Vanavasa. According to Historians the present day temple may be built around 13th century.

Day 04 : Parli Vaijanath to Aurangabad via Aundha Nagnath

Day 05 : Aurangabad to Pune via Shani Shinganapur

After breakfast drive to Pune. On the way visit Shani Dham in Shani Shinganapur. Later drive to Pune and drop at Airport or railway station.
